HySnowGroomer
Reducing the carbon footprint of winter sport in Tirol
The “HySnowGroomer” project aims to develop a multifunctional hydrogen snow groomer including a refuelling system and emergency power supply function for clean and safe alpine winter tourism.
With the support of the national Climate and Energy Fund, a snow groomer with a fuel cell electric powertrain was developed between 2019 and 2021 and a mobile hydrogen refuelling station (mobileHRS) was developed, built and brought to market.

“HySnowGroomer” is funded by the Klima- und Energiefonds and is carried out within the Energy Model Region program. All stakeholders are organized in a consortium consisting of the strategy and project development company FEN Sustain Systems GmbH, the project operators Kässbohrer Austria GmbH, Schmidberger Elektroinstallations GesmbH, Pongauer Energie Center GmbH. Research partners are FEN Research GmbH and the research center HyWest.
